The Douro International Natural Park covers the border stretch of the Douro River and the final kilometres of the Águeda River, spanning an area of 85,150 ha across Miranda do Douro, Mogadouro, Freixo de Espada à Cinta and Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo. It is known as the “Grand Canyon” of the Iberian Peninsula, home to the most important populations of cliff-nesting birds.
